INTERACT’s research programme is built around six interconnected Research Projects (RPs), tackling critical aspects in the R&D of sustainable automotive electrical actuators: high efficiency, low cost, reduced weight, low noise and fault tolerance.

RESEARCH PROJECTS

Research activities will be implemented as training-through-research modules of INTERACT’s doctoral training programme, and performed under the individual RPs, integrated in a well-structured and coherent research program, with a selected set of key methodological elements and a well-thought-out collaboration between the five consortium beneficiaries and the six ESRs.

Each RP becomes the core research training element for one of the six INTERACT fellows.

RP1. PM-less machines

RP2. SMC machines

RP3. High-speed machines and losses

RP4. NVH/EMI

RP5. Safety and fault-tolerance

RP6. System-level simulation and design, model-order reduction (MOR)

In INTERACT we will focus on three automotive auxiliary applications. For each of them, relevant speed, torque and power ratings (orders of magnitude) are listed below, along with the maximum speed to base speed ratio and the research focus. In any case, an important first consortium-wide task in the INTERACT project will consist in fixing complete lists of specifications for the machines to design and prototype, considering the research to be conducted and a number of practical constraints.
